Equus Farm
Equus Farm in Monteverde, Costa Rica, is a family-run gem with deep roots in the region’s agricultural heritage. It all began in 1966 when a young Rafael Ángel Cruz arrived in Monteverde at just seven years old. Over the years, he and his family cultivated the land, working in agriculture, dairy farming, and traditional sugarcane processing known as trapiche.
As Monteverde blossomed into a popular ecotourism destination, the Cruz family embraced the opportunity to share their traditions with visitors. They transformed their working farm into a welcoming space for horseback riding tours and cultural experiences. Today, Equus Farm offers scenic rides through lush landscapes, panoramic views of the Nicoya Gulf, and hands-on demonstrations of sugarcane processing—preserving Costa Rican traditions while inviting travelers to connect with the land and its stories.
