Natuwa Wildlife Sanctuary

Founded in 2023 as an expansion of the original sanctuary in Aranjuez (1994), NATUWA’s Ecotourism Program stands as a dedicated effort toward wildlife conservation in Costa Rica. In close collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE), the sanctuary receives confiscated or injured animals, providing them with care under strict legal and ethical standards. The guided tour, led by trained staff and passionate guides, aims to raise ecological awareness among visitors, promote respect for biodiversity, and strengthen the bond between the Monteverde community and its natural surroundings.

During the walk, visitors explore trails surrounded by lush vegetation, where observation stations showcase iconic neotropical species such as jaguars, tapirs, and sloths. Each stop offers a chance to learn about the natural history of these animals, the threats they face, and the vital role they play in maintaining healthy ecosystems. The experience not only educates but also inspires, demonstrating how protecting wildlife directly contributes to human well-being and the balance of the planet.
